When I attended the Tabels of Distinction Record Pool meeting there were a lot of
people in the music business there playing music and listening to the cuts of
others. I always have a great time when I roll through, and Eardrum is very good
at making you feel welcome wether you are a familiar face or a new-comer.
I'm going to ask my industry peps' to bare with me as I explain
what record pools are about. Check this. If you manufactured your new cut on CDs
or records and don't know the next step to droppin' your cut to the streets.
I got two words for ya'. Record Pools. An organization that contains most of the
big DJs in your tri- state area that listen to new music that they will be playing
around the city and in major clubs. At the head of DCs largest Record
Pool is my man Eardrum. Eardrum gets new product on a regular basis from |
major record Companies that want their music played like, MCA, Def Jam, Universal,
and J Records just to name a few, as well as local labels. Once Eardrum receives
the product he then distributes it to the many DJ members that belong to the
Pool so that your new cut makes its way to the streets of Washington, DC, Maryland,
and VA. Before distributing to his DJs sometimes Eardrum will give your
music a listen right away, tell you what he thinks, and your cut is off to the public. So the next time your at the VIP club, 2K9, Platinum,
or any other of the many DC area entertainment hot spots, and you here a tight
cut boomin through the house system, just know that there is a great posibility
that Eardrum guided it straight to your ears. |
