The Future Of Hip Hop |
Directory |
There is no doubt that Hip-Hop has come a long way since it's start. But where is it headed? Lots of critics say that today's hip-hop artist/producers are incapable of creating original music and that hip-hop music will become stagnated when listeners grow fatigued from reputation of "today's" hip-hop sound. So what does the future hold for hip-hop? Especially when history has shown us that reputation is a proven life span that always ends. You've herd the saying, "all good things must come to an end". Listeners seem to get tired of one thing and move on to the next thing. So what do you do when one assumes that today's hip-hop (as we know it) is close to the point of expiration. The answer?... Do another good thing. New and fresh ideas have always propelled new sensations and phenomenons. Hip-Hop has gone through lots of changes from the past to the present and most all of it's changes have sparked the so-called "next big thing" of that era. No one can predict exactly what new and exciting thing will happen to the world of hip-hop. Who knows, maybe things will recycle and new artists will connect more to the streets and rely on talent more than marketing and promotion for thier claim to fame like Boogie Down's KRS1. The truth is that we don't know what is going to happen and in your quest to latch on to what might be the next turning point idea that sparks the next new thing in the world of hip-hop, let me share with you a rap artist that I recently reviewed named "High Lo" What first got my attention about "High Lo" was the fact that he took a chance on creating an original sound that was truly his own. It takes guts to go against the grain. The second thing was the fact that before my brain could get a chance to reject this new sound, my head was already "bobin" to the music and there is a lot to be said about that because whether we know it or not most of us are programed to liking a certain sound and therefore our initial instinct can sometimes be to reject something new and different. I also noticed right away, a strong, powerful beat with a "pocket" that was easy to fall into. The beat was so strong that it made me picture a wide acceptance from today's youthful listeners. So look out for "High Lo" and any other new artist or new music that you find. Always check out new and different music because while we can't say exactly what will happen to the future of hip-hop music, we can be most certain of the fact that everything must change. Trust me, history has proved it over and over again. Just ask yo mama. - realness |
